It is a tumultuous time in our world and in our lives. War, the economy, unemployment, and the constant threat of terrorism, hatred, and violent crimes is a steady stream of unrest, anxiety, and worry. Our families, our friends, our neighbors are hurting. Millions are living in fear, doubt, and with the unknown. Is this the world we want? Is this the world we’re leaving for our children?
If you’re like me you’ve had enough politics, enough promises, and not enough implementation. I tire of the fear-mongering, double-talk, and bureaucratic beadledom. This isn’t about government, politics, and the next election. This isn’t about big talk and little action – this is about you and me, regardless of our beliefs, race, country, or creed taking personal accountability, personal action, and personal commitment to make a better world.
Why shouldn’t we have world peace? Why shouldn’t we love, encourage one another, live with kindness, and do good work? Ten Goals for 2010 is a commitment to personally adapt these goals, these actions, in an effort to make this a better world, one person and one moment at a time.
The Ten Goals for 2010 can have a profound effect on your life and the lives of others. The Ten Goals for 2010:
- Be kind. I’ll do at least one kind thing for someone else every day.
- Do good work. When I work I’ll give my best.
- Help others. I’ll find a way to help others who aren’t as fortunate as me.
- Make friends. This year I’ll make new friends by being friendly.
- Encourage. For myself and for others I’ll give encouragement in my conversation.
- Give your time. I’ll find a way to give my time to help others.
- Give love. I’ll give my love through my actions.
- Get involved. I'll find events, communities, and people to be involved with.
- Achieve goals. By achieving goals for myself I can improve my life.
- Share. I’ll invite others to participate in these 10 Goals for 2010.
These ten goals won’t cost you anything but your commitment, your time, and your energy, but the benefits can be amazing for you and for others. If each of us commits to these ten goals I believe our lives, the lives of our families, and the lives of strangers will improve. If each of us will invite our friends to participate, and our friends invite others, and so on, we can, as a group of individuals, achieve, accomplish, and do more for this tired world than ever before.
